A Non-Abelian 2-Group Whose Endomorphisms Generate a Ring, and other Examples of E-Groups
1. Introduction Groups for which the distributively generated near-ring generated by the endomorphisms is in fact a ring are known as U-groups and are discussed in (3). R. Faudree in (1) has given the only published examples of non-abelian JS-groups by presenting defining relations for a family of p-groups. However, as shown in (3), Faudree's group does not have the desired property when p = 2....

15 صفحه اولEndomorphisms of Compact Abelian Groups Minimize Entropy
The entropy conjecture for tori has been settled a long time ago by Misiurewicz and Przytycki. We show that their result extends from tori to compact and connected abelian groups. We give stronger results for hyperbolic automorphisms. Throughout this paper G denotes a compact and connected metric abelian group. The group operation on G is written additively.
متن کاملIterated Endomorphisms of Abelian Algebraic Groups
Given an abelian algebraic group A over a global field K, α ∈ A(K), and a prime l, the set of all preimages of α under some iterate of [l] has a natural tree structure. Using this data, we construct an “arboreal” Galois representation ω whose image combines that of the usual l-adic representation and the Galois group of a certain Kummer-type extension. For several classes of A, we give a simple...
متن کاملnon-divisibility for abelian groups
Throughout all groups are abelian. We say a group G is n-divisible if nG = G. If G has no non-zero n-divisible subgroups for all n>1 then we say that G is absolutely non-divisible. In the study of class C consisting all absolutely non-divisible groups such as G, we come across the sub groups T_p(G) = the sum of all p-divisible subgroups and rad_p(G) = the intersection of all p^nG. The proper...
